Classes are Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Friday from 1:30 to 6:00 PM.
In addition to our ELD classes offered during the school day, we are proud to offer additional intensive ELD classes in our after school program that students are assigned to, and advance through based on placement and advancement testing.
These classes work to develop a student's reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills through a variety of assignments. Students will work individually, as a class, and in small groups to practice the skills that they learned during the school day, and to build onto those skills using our specialized curriculum developed in our Partnership with STEPS Academy.
We currently offer ELD Classes at the following levels:
ELD I - Phonetic Skills
ELD II - Advanced Phonetic Skills and Conversation
ELD III - Reading and Writing Skills

We are pleased to offer an optional after-school program for our students. This program provides a safe and supervised environment where students can complete their homework, study, or engage in quiet activities until they are picked up.
We also take this extra time as an opportunity to help our students advance even further by assigning students additional work in English and Math.
These English and Math "Packets" were developed by STEPS Academy and have been proven over their 17 years of implementation to be an effective method of personally paced review and skill practice, while also giving students the tools and confidence that they need to self-learn new and advanced concepts (under the supervion of teachers and tutors).
Students must report promptly for attendance at the start of 7th period and will stay under staff supervision and guidance until they leave school.
Students in the After School Program may sign out to attend Teachers' Office Hours, Clubs, and Team meetings.
Complete the Application to the left to enroll your student. Students must already be enrolled in Arroyo Pacific Academy to join this program.

STEPS encourages students to learn through a system of encouraged repeated attempts, rather than just harsh grading. If a student ever gets a question wrong or struggles to understand a topic, they are given the opportunity to reapproach the question until they can come to the correct conclusion on their own. With each attempt, students are given an increased amount of guidance and attention. This allows students to become confident in their ability to problem-solve, and provides them with repeated exposure to improve their retention of key areas of the Math and English curricula.
Students are assessed for individual skills within each topic, and each student is given a customized curriculum that allows them to catch up to their peers in each aspect of a subject, and then to surpass them as they continue to master each new subtopic.
Students in the Main Program are also given the opportunity to work through their regular assigned homework from their main school along with the assistance and supervision of tutors
ELD Program: Students are set in small groups with 3 or 4 students per tutor. In these groups, students develop their reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills using STEPS customized curricula. Groups are assigned based on the skills and needs of each student, and allow students to have a combination of quiet study time, 1-on-1 instruction with their TA, and group practice.

Main Program: Students recieve extra guidence in Math and English utilizing the proprietary STEPS "Packet System." These English and Math "Packets" were developed by STEPS Academy and have been proven over their 17 years of implementation to be an effective method of personally paced review and skill practice, while also giving students the tools and confidence that they need to self-learn new and advanced concepts (undersupervion of teachers and tutors).
